Leon Haslam and James Ellison have both walked away without serious injury after their dramatic crash in race two at Oulton Park which saw the pair tumble out while bat💟tling for the podium.

On lap 14 Ellison's McAMS Yamaha lost engine power coming out of Druids corner and with the charging Leon Haslamꦐ on the JG Speedfit Kawasaki directly behind him he was unable to avoid being hit in the rear by the MCE British Superbike championship leader.

The impact wrecked Haslam's bike while Ellison had his exhaust bend forwa൲rds by the force of the crash as his BSB rival tumbled off at ౠaround 160mph.

Ellison walked away from the nasty acciden𝓀t unhurt and Haslam was taken to the medical centre with an ankle injury but was 𓆏later given the all clear despite being battered and bruised.

The McAMS Yamaha rider♉ explained his YZF-R1 suddenly lost all power andܫ with Haslam so close behind he couldn't move out of the way in time.

"Coming out under the bridge the bike just stopped. I was absolutely flat out when Leon hit me but the engine was completely stopped," Ellison said on Eurosport. "I didn't want to roll off, braꦑke or pull the clutch in as I knew he was right behind me. It all happened it was so quick. I ran back to see 🎉how he was and thankfully I think he was okay, just a bit shook up.

"I'm devastated though, gutted for Leon because he has had such a good season so far this year and not sometꩲhing we want to happen. We are all riders 𝓀and all human so I feel for him.

"I apologised to him and told him what happened. I didn't want him to think I sat up or tried to brake check him or whatever. I wanted to ꦜmake sure he was fine and let him know what happened. There was nothing I could do about it."

Ellison's third retirement of the season will come as a bitter pill to swallow having led at ev꧋ery round of the 2017 BSB championship so far but sits in ninth in the riders' championship on 31 points - 30 points off the top six Showdown places.

Haslam has confirmed he's feel🙈ing okay but disappointed to miss ou🌟t on battling Shane Byrne for the race two win in the closing stages.

"We had🍒 a big, big crash with James Ellison's bike cutting out at about 160mph right in front of me and I went right over the handlebars," Haslam 🐎said. "Luckily I'm all okay but quite disappointed as we got the fastest lap of the race and were closing back in on Shakey.

"I am frustrated as I felt we could have challenged for another win 🍃but that is raci🅺ng. I've got a few weeks off to recover ahead of World Superbikes next."

Haslam heads into the BSB mid-season break with a slender three-point lead at the top of the riders' standings against Luke Mossey and holds a fiꦬve podium point advantage over his JG Speedfit Kawasaki team-mate.

Haslam will have just under a month to recover from the off ahead of his World Superbike wildcard entry at Donington Park for Pucc🐭etti Kawasaki on the 26-28 May.
