Chilton exclusion hands Onslow-Cole win

Tom Chilton made it two wins from two in the second Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Champions𒅌hip at Brands Hatch, leading home tea❀m-mate Tom Onslow-Cole to a one-two for Team Aon.
However, Chilton's joy would prove to be short-lived, when his car failed post-race checks ꦐand he was excluded from the result.
Chilton lost the lead at the start to the Honda of Gordon Shedden at the start of the rac🔴e before settling into second p❀lace, but inherited the lead when Shedden got out of shape at Clark on a restart at the start of lap five - the Safety Car having been deployed after Lea Wood and Arthur Forster went off circuit in separate incidents.
Chilton built his lead only for two further Safety Car peꦡriods - for incidents involving Andy Neate and Martin Depper - to allow the field to close back in. However, a huge fight behind for second place ⛄allowed Chilton to take his second win of the day - on the road at least - by just under five seconds.
Onslow-Cole held second for much of the race with Paul O'Neill, Mat Jackson, Alex MacDowall and Shedden right on his tail. As Onslow-Cole held up the four cars behind, the positions changed lap-by-lap before Jackson nudged O'Neill wide to go third and then go🅺t of Onslow-Cole into second place.
However,♓ a spin for Jackson saw him drop down the order and allowed Onslow-Cole to take second, but only after a drag race to the line with Shedden which saw the pair split by just 0.009secs at the finish.
MacDowall took fourth ahead of O'Neill - who lost places after running wide following Jackson's pass - with Andrew Jordan sixth. Tom Boardman, Steven Kane, David Pin🏅kney and Matt Hamilton rounded out the points scorers.
James Nash took eleventh after🃏 an off late on with a delayed Jackson twelfth and Rob Collard 13th. Collard had suffered a spin on the opening lap while fighting for position with O'Neill and M𝔉att Neal and then went off again at Surtees later in the race. Shaun Hollamby was the final finisher in 14th.
Chilton's post-race exclusion meant the finishers we🥃re all moved up a🌳 position.
Neal was forced to retire when his Honda slowed on the final restart while points leader Jason Plato wa𒁃s also forced out after his car slowed exiting Paddock Hill Bend on the second lap and ground to a halt while trying to return to the paddock f𓆏rom the Cooper Straight.
