Ferrari chief designer and head of vehicle project coordination Simone Resta has left the Formula 1 team ahead of a move to Sauber, where he will take up 🍌the role of technical director from July♑ 1.

Resta has worked with Ferrari since 2001 in the role💎 of chief designer, but has now left Maranello൲ ahead of a move to Sauber, which enjoys close ties to the Ferrari team via its title sponsorship from sister brand Alfa Romeo.

Ferrari confirmed Resta's departure in a statement issued on Monday following th﷽e Monaco Grand Prix, with Sauber confirming soon after that he would be joining ꦚthe team on July 1 as technical director, reporting to team principal Frederic Vasseur.

"Simone Resta has the best profile to take on the role of T♒echnꦍical Director," Vasseur said.

"His arrival at Alfa Romeo Sauber🥃 F1 Team marks a significant step ahead of a long term project that aims at strengthening the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team in order to achieve ambitious results."

Resta will fill the role left by ex-Audi LMP1 technical chief Jörg Zander, who left Sauber w🅺ith immediate effect🐼 at the beginning of May after less than 18 months in the role.
