Williams F1 boss Jost Capito to miss Saudi GP after positive COVID-19 test

Williams Formula 1 team principal and CEO Jost Capito will miss this weekend’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix after returning a positive COVID-19 test result.

Capito, who took over🌜 as Williams boss earlier this year following changes made by new owners Dorilton Capital, tested positive for COVID-19 before tra꧅velling to Jeddah and will miss the penultimate round of the season as a result. 

A Williams team statement confirmed Capito is following UK national health authority guidelines, adding “there has been no wider impact on Williams Racing personnel and the team will continue to operate tracksi🥀de as planned.”

It marks the secon🔯d time this season that Capito has missed a race weekend for COVID-19-ওrelated reasons. 

Capito was also absent from the F1 paddock at the Dutch Grand Prix after coming into contact withജ Alfa Romeo driver Kimi Raikkonen - who tested positive for COVID-19 during the Zandvoort weekend. 

Despite being retested and returning a negative result, Capito sat out the remainder o💯f the Dutch GP weekend as a pre🤡caution. 

Williams heads into the final tw🅠o races of the 2021 season sitting eighﷺth in the constructors’ championship, 12 points clear of nearest rival Alfa Romeo.
