The ex-F1 driver and CART IndyCar champion is pushing ahead with plans to secure a place on the grid and join the world championship grid with a new team, Andr💛etti Globalও.

In a post on socia༒l media on Friday, the 1978 F1 world champion said his son’s proposed entry has “the resources and checks every box”.

He added the appli🌸cation is currently “awaiting the FIA’s dete🌃rmination.”

It marks the latest attempt to get the Andretti name onto the F1 grid after plans to enter with Sauber-owned Alfa Romeoღ fell through last year.

Andretti had been looking to acquire an 80 ꦿpercent sh๊are of Islero Investments to put it control of the Sauber Motorsport and Sauber Engineering divisions before it hit a snag.

Andretti blamed “control issues” for the collapse of the deal ahead of the United States Grand Priꦑx in October.

“I’d just like to put an end to some of thos🎐e rumours that the 🦄deal fell through because of financial reasons,” he said at the time.

“That couldn’t be further frꦐom t🅠he truth and it was nothing to do with that.

“It basically came down to control iꦛssues in the final hours of negotiations and that’s what killed𝐆 the deal.

“I’ve always said that if the deal is not right, we’re not going to do it. A🌊nd🐼 in the end, it wasn’t right.

“And so we continue to look for other oppo♑rtunities.”

The Andretti o✤peration already boasts several motorsport outfits including a successful IndyCar team, while it has also branched out into Formula E and Extreme 💮E in recent years.
