Alpine Formula 1 junior Christian Lundgaard ღset the fastest time in Formula 2 pre-season testing as he topped Tuesday's morning session in Bahrain.

Lundgaard was the on🌊ly man to dip under the 1m42s at the Bahrain International Circuit as he set 1m41.697s - only 0.2s shy of Callum Ilott's pole position time from last year's race.

The ART Grand Prix driver completed 29 laps in the morꦯning session and a further 45 laps in the afternoon where he focused on race simulations.

Lundgaard will be eyeinꦇg a strong start to the 2021 season 🌃after a promising rookie campaign.

The morning session was where the majority of the faste🐈st lap times w🃏ere set.

Bent Viscaal and Marcus Armstrong were 0.3s shy of Lundgaard's benchmark, while Dan Ticktum headed the afternoon timesheets with a 1m42.185s, fourth overall in🅠 the day's classification.

Ticktum completed 66 laps across the two sessions on day two in Ba🐼hrain as he continues to adapt to life at Carlin having made the move from DAMS.

Liam Lawson, Robert Shwartzman and Juri Vips were all within a tenth of each other in the morning session, all setting lap𝓀 times in the 1m42.2s.

17-year-old F2 rookie Theo Pourchaire completed 42 laps in the second ART Grand Prix car to finish seventh in the morning session. In the a🤡fternoon, he completed 47 laps as attentions turned to race trim.

With most drivers focusing on race simulations in the afternoon, few drivers bettered their personal b🧜est efforts from the morning, Ticktum being the nota💞ble exception.
