Pascal Wehrlein swept to his maiden Formula E pole posi🤪tion during qualifying for the Mexico City 🃏E-Prix at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez on Saturday afternoon, beating Audi's Lucas di Grassi.

After fini🗹shing second in the initial group heats behind Nissan's Oliver Rowland, ex-Formula 1 racer Wehrlein managed to turn in a best lap of 59.347s to take pole position, finishing three-tenths clear of the field.

Di Grassi managed to take second place for Audi, while Felipe Massa enj♍oyed his best Formula E qualifying to date as he finished third for Venturi ahജead of Rowland in P4.

Antonio Felix da Costa and Seb▨astien Buemi rounded out the top six for BMW and Nissan respectively.

Championship leader Sam Bird saw his hopes of a second straight victory take a significant blow when his car hit trouble as he headed out fo🧜r qualifying, leaving him at the back of the field.

Bird's closest challenger, Jer൩o🐻me d'Ambrosio, could only qualify 19th, while reigning champion Jean-Eric Vergne is set to start eighth in Mexico later today.
