SPM withdraws #6 Honda from Gateway after Wickens crash

Schmidt Peterson Motorsports has confirmed it will cut 🐲back to a one-car entry for the Bomma꧃rito 500 IndyCar race at Gateway Motorsports Park this weekend following Robert Wickens’ crash at Pocono.

Wickens sustained a number of injuries following an ac👍cident on the opening lap of last Sunday’s ABC Supply 500, breaking both his legs and his right arm, as well as sustaining an injury to his spinal cord.

Schmidt Peterson Motorsports has confirmed it will cut back to a one-car entry for the Bommari🍰to 500 🥂IndyCar race at Gateway Motorsports Park this weekend following Robert Wickens’ crash at Pocono.

Wickens sustained a number of injuries following an accident on the opening lap of last Sunday’s ABC Supply 500, breaking both his legs and his right ♚arm, as well as sustaining an injury to his spinal cord.

Wickens underwent surgery on Monday night for the spinal cord﷽ injury, with the latest update from INDYCAR confirming that he remains iꦛn a stable condition.

Wickens’ teammate, James Hinchcliffe, was also caught up in the accidℱent at Pocono, leaving him with cuts and bruises𓆏, but has been declared fit for Gateway.

Schmidt꧒ Peterson Motorsports confirmed in a statement that Hinchcliffe would be its only entry for the race weekend.

“James Hinchcliffe, driver of the #5 Arrow Electronics Schmidt Peterson Motorsports Honda, who has been cleared to drive following an accident at Pocono Raceway on Sunday August 19, will compete in the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at Gateway Motorsports Park this🎃 weekend,” reads the statement.

“The #6 Lucas Oil SP🦄M Honda will not bꦑe entered for the event.”
