German MotoGP: Sachsenring ‘fantastic on a Moto3, has unique character’ - Miller

Jack Miller believes the much improved GP21 package has the potential to turn Sachsenring - not considered favourable for Ducati, into another strong MotoGP venue for the Bologna bullet.

Third in the MotoGP world championship and two-time race winner in 2021 Jack Miller, is ‘excited’ by Ducatis potential heading into this weekend’s German GP.🐽

Ducati have had a less than ste⛦llar record in Germany - one win in 23 years at Sachsenring courtesy of Casey Stoner in 2008.

But whereas circuits that matched up unfavourably i☂n the past have halted championship challenges for Andrea Dovizioso most recently, the GP21 has already turned several tracks that were considered better for other manufacturers into strengths this year.

Wins in Jerez and Le Mans, along with podiums at all but one race this season have shown the Duca♌ti’s improvements, which is a great sign heading into the next two venues being Sachsenring and Assen.

On the subject of tracks being considered more preferable than others and if he believes this is true, Miller added: "For sure, there’s always tracks that maybe suit your bike more than others, but it’s how you can adapt your bike to the track that we🌌ekend.

"Here, it’s not too bad. The corners aren’t, let's say like a🐽 lot of other tracks where you’re relying on that turning to a massive degree.

"You’re not changing directions too much, it’s kinda one way in that aspect, whereas Assen is another kettle of fish altogether with lots of changes o🍃f direction and high speed.

"So I thi💯nk we’ve got two really different elements in thesඣe next two weekend’s for our bike.

"The GP21 is a massive improvemen꧂t from what we rode here in 2019, and hopefully we can turn some of the tracks that maybe weren’t ‘Ducati tracks’, as we’ve done already in a couple of tracks this year."

Regarding the Sachsenring circuit itself, it was the venue where Miller made his GP debut ten year𒅌s ago.

That was on a Moto3 bike, a machine that is peಞrfect for this circuit according to the Australian, whereas on a MotoGP ಌbike it can be a ‘tight one’.

"It’s a s🧜pecial track. It’s fantastic on a Moto3 bike - one of the best I think, but on a MotoGP bike she’s a tight one," said Milleꦉr

"But it’s fun. It has its own unique character which is nice to have because many of the tracks we go to are quite similar to each o🦹ther, so it’s nice to have something completely ﷺleft-field, literally left.

"I’m excited for the weekend. Las﷽t time we were here two years ago we didn’t do too bad. I think it was D༺ovi [Andrea Dovizioso], Danilo [Petrucci] and myself.

"We had a nice little fight together. I think we were four, five and six, so it wasn’t too bad and I’m definitely excited to take the GP21 around her🦂e. I t𝔍hink it’s a better package and I think we’ll be quite surprised with how well the bike works here."
