Mugello has hosted every Italian motorcycle Grand Prix since 1994, including every race in the MotoGP era, and with 2017 predicted to be another historic race take a 🐠look ovᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚer the modern era's all-time classics.

The MotoGP paddock will pay its tribute to 2006 world champion Nicky Hayden who tragically passed away from in🅰juries suffered in a cycling accident last week, while Valentino Rossi is battling chest and abdomen pains sustained in a motocross training crash.

Maverick Vinales is looking to write his name into the Italian MotoGP history book to strengthen h🌼is championship lead but the likes former winners Marc Marquez, Dani Pedrosa, Jorge Lorenzo and 🌺Rossi will be keen to strike back.

2016 ♛- Jorge Lorenzo wins epic last-lap duel with Marc Marquez as Valentino Rossi's engine goes up in smoke.

Rossi will be looking for redemption at Mugello this year after his dreams of a first win since 2008 ♕at his home circuit disappeared when he retired with an engine blow despite having started on pole position and been battling Lorenzo for victory.

After Rossi's early retirement it op💯ened up a breath-taking dual between Lorenzo and Marquez with the factory Yamaha rider using his rival's slipstream in the sprint to the finish line to win by 0.019s.

2014 - Marc Marquez gets oneဣ over on Jorge Lorenzo as Valentino Rossi charges from 10th to third plac🌳e on his 300th GP start.

Two years before Marquez and Lorenzo had their 2016 scrap, the pair of Spanish riders enjoyed a similar victory chase with the Repsol Honda rider taking his sixth win from six races in 2014 - a run which stretched to 10 in total on his way to a dominant world title. Rossi kept the home fans cheering when he recovered from a dreadful qualifying down🔯 in 10th place to charge to the final rostrum spot and just 2.6s off Marquez's victory.

2013 - Jorge Lorenzo romps to victor✤y as Marc Marquez crashes from second and Valentino Rossi is spear🧜ed off by Alvaro Bautista.

Victories rarely come easy at Mugello but on paper at least Lorenzo's 🍸win looked like a stroll as he finished over five seconds up the road on Dani Pedrosa. But the factory Yamaha rider was hounded by Marc Marquez for the majority of the race until Marquez crashed out of second place with three la﷽ps remaining.

Worse luck befell the home hero who was involved in an opening lap collision with Bautista who appeared to cut across the Italian in the switchback to ꧋turn five and skittled the pair off. It sparked a war of words between the two riders while Bautista has never been warmly welcomed back to Mugello since the incident.

The 2013 race was also memorable for a frightening crash for Marc Marquez during Friday practice. The Repsol Honda rider suffered a 175mph crash down the long start/finish straight and ꦍwas very lucky to escape serious injury.

2010 - Valentino Rossi suffers 🌳leg fracture on Sa🎶turday as Pedrosa eases to victory.

While Rossi's memories of Muge🅠llo remain solely positive in the first half of his career, the second half has been punctuated by painful incidents - none more so than his crash during Saturday practice in which he suffered a broken leg which saw him miss four rounds and effectively rule him out of the 2010 world title fight. The Doctor's absence allowed Pedrosa to ea𝄹se to a maiden Italian MotoGP win with Lorenzo second and Andrea Dovizioso third.

Perhaps to become an iconic image, Lorenzo wore a 'get well soon' Rossi t-shirt o🐈n the Mugello podium, a show of support which would be short lived as the ♏rivalry intensified between the pair throughout the season before Rossi's departure to Ducati a year later.

2004 - One of the most controversial MotoGP races but also one of the most memorable. Rain was the instigator in 2004 when a sudden downpour red flagged the ra🌱ce at Mugello to halt an enticing duel between Valentino Rossi, Sete Gibernau, Max Biaggi and Makoto Tamarda.

The rain didn't last as on the restart using dry tyres Rossi won a six-lap sprint race but was awarded full points 🉐despite less than half a race distance being officially completed. The rules on wet races were redrawn aft🐷er the six lap sprint.
