Assen, already confirmed on the MotoGP calendar until ܫ2017, has had its contract extended until at least 2021.

The new deal was announced on Thursday of this year's Dutch TT, which is the only venue that has been on the motorcycle grand prix calendar since the inaugural 1949 seasonꩵ.

"There's a reason why Assen is the longest serving track on the calendar," said Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta. "It's fast nature and excellent layout make it ideal not only for MotoGP bikes andꦯ th♕eir support classes, but also for the vast number of spectators that turn out every year.

"The contract was already signed until 2017, yet we felt the time was right to really cement i🧸t on the calendar and keep the pin🙈nacle of motorcycle racing at the Cathedral for many years to come."
