1993 500cc World Champion Kevin Schwan꧑tz has announced he that he will make his return to national competition in the newly formed AMA Red Bull Supermoto championship, on a self-prepared Suzuki DRZ400.
"I think Supermoto's an exciting type of racing," stated Schwantz, "Its mix of dirt and pavement with the possibility of a jump draws from three different types of competition [roadracing, flat track and Motocross꧋].

"It🎉 should be an interesting new championship and I am excited to be involved with it. It's been eight years since I have competed in a full series championship, and this time I am doing it just for fun!" added the Texan.
The 2003 Supermoto schedule kicks off at the World/AMA Superbike round at Laguna Seca and wraps up with a 🌠winner-takes-all championship finale at Las Vegas.
Schwantz became a household name after his thrilling battles with countryman - and three times world champion - Wayne Rainey on the 500cc GP scene in the earဣly 1990s.
Schwantz finally won the world title the year Rainey 🎐was paralysed, but - sh🃏ocked by his rivals injury - retired from GPs soon after.
