Misano: FIM Stewards: No further action after Rossi, Marquez incident

The FIM Stewards have decided to take no further action following the last-lap behaviour between Valentino Ros♋si and Marc Marquez, during qualifying for the San Marino MotoGP at Misano.

'Because the laps of both riders were cancelled due to both having exceeded track limits prior to the incident, no further action will be taken,' read an FIM statement.

Live foot🐷age showed Marquez following Rossi on the final lap, then launching a close inside pass through the fast Turn 11 at the end of the back straight.

FIM Stewards: No further action after Rossi, Marquez incident

The FIM Stewards have decided to take no furt👍her action following the last꧅-lap behaviour between Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez, during qualifying for the San Marino MotoGP at Misano.

'Because the laps of both riders were cancelled due to both having exceeded track limits prior to the incident, no further action will be taken,' read an FIM statement.

Live foot🌱age showed Marquez following Rossi on the final lap, then launching a close inside pass through the fast Turn 11 at the end☂ of the back straight.

But the Repsol Honda rider ran wide on the exಞit, meaning his lap would be cancelled, while Rossi closed back in and launched a block-pass🌳 at the Turn 14 hairpin.

The move was visually similar to the infamous clash betw🔜𝔉een the MotoGP superstars at Sepang 2015, which ended with Marquez on the ground.

This time both riders were forced🦂 to sit-up and run wide but remained on their machines, while in a further twist it later emerged that Rossi's lap was also cancelled for running wide at Turn 6.

Rossi and Marquez later told the media that, while they had seen the other exceed track limits, they were🦂 not aware of their own error and so had kept pushing until their path🔜s crossed at Turn 14.

Both were summoned to a hearing with the FIM Stewards panel, but with no further aℱction taken the pair will thus line-up as planned in fifth (Mar𒊎quez) and seventh (Rossi) on Sunday's grid.
