After having a front row seat to Mar♔c Marquez’s latest wonder save, Danilo Petrucci gave his account of the incident while he was almost as equally impressed by his pace during the special session at Phillip Island.
During the 2020 Michelin rear tyre test session to held immediately after FP2, which has not contribute to this weekend’s Australian Grand Prix action, Marquez pulled off a stunning 70-degree lean 𒅌angle save at Turn 10 to add anotheꦇr incredible feat to his ev꧃er-growing collection.
Having joked after the incident he was trying to outdo his brother Alex Marquez after he saved a high-side at a wet Motegi last weekend, Petrucci was left impressed by the Repsol Honda rider’s effort as well as his pace during the𝓀 tyre test session.
“I had the chance to follow Marc on tyre test session, unbelievable what he did in Turn 10, I was just behiඣnd, and I was following him,” Petrucci said.
“I saw him lose the front, and then going wide, and coming back, and I have him perpendicular to my path, I had the chance♕ to hit him! Joking apart, it was very very interesting to see Marc as always.
“We have to improve cornering. But we have some good parts that we can enjoy, parts that we can use the stability and acceleration of the bike tౠo be fast. For sure we have to be good in our strong points and for the next season, try to solve our weak point. For traction, we are quite good.”

Assessing his own Friday performance, Petrucci was buoyed by his progress in Australia by ending the dry FP2 in fourth place. The Italian feels the cooler conditiꦯons at Phillip Island along with Michelin’s rear tyre allocation for this race aids his recent tyre wear woes.
“At the moment FP2 was like a qualifying session more or less, very very raw, because just 45 minutes will be the only time w✱e get this weekend for practice,” he✤ said.
“But yeah, the Medium tyre, less grippy but more constant, soft tire is quite good, solves some of our problems, but performance drops a bit. The new tyre is a l🐎ittle bit better for that poiꦛnt, but for sure we cannot use for the race.”
Petrucci is aiming to end his run of poor form having failed to finish inside the top six since the German round back in early July, which has seen the factory Ducati rider dro♑p to fifth place in the current MotoGP riders’ standings.
Petrucci’s team-mate Andrea Dovizioso was 𝓡the fastest Ducati in second place.
