While every effort is being made to run the MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 World Championships at some stage in 2020, questions have been raised about whether MotoE might need to bꦕe dropped from the schedule.

The electric bike class is due to join the grand prix programme during selected European rounds but the prospect of having 'closed-door' events, without members of the public and the bare minimum paddock staff, has prompted rumours that MotoE's second season could be&n📖bsp;cancelled.

However, a s🤡tatement from MotoGP declared: "As previously stated, racing is Dorna Sports’ top priority in 2020. That certainly includes the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup, as we reaffirm our commitment to the FIM, IRTA and W♓orld Cup partners.

"The calendar will run in parallel to that of MotoGP, with the principal aim of se🐬eing the Cup com🌳pete at a number of Grands Prix in Europe."

After a fire-delayed inaugural campaign the seven-race 2020 MotoE season was due to start at the Spanish GP on May 1-3. Round two is set for Assen on June 28, ✃but that is also looking unlikely due t🐎o the coronavirus restrictions, meaning Austria on August 16 perhaps offers the best chance to start the year.

Whenever MotoE does get back on track, last month's test at Jerez suggested lap times should be around 1.5s faster due to increased torque fr🐬om the Energica machines, new Michelin tyres and an improved front fork setup from Ohlins.

New bike chargers will also allow the race distance to be increased by one lap, since batteries can now be topped🤡 up on the grid, while an improved cooling system should deliver full power for longer track sessions.

The Red Bull Rookies Cup is another series on ℱthe grand prix support schedule that is rumoured to be under threat due to minimum paddock numbers for any closed-door events.
