English rider Lee Vernon has died following an accident at the 🌸Dundrod 150 road races in Northern Ireland.

The 24-year-old from Stoke-on-Trent was involved in an inc💜ident in the final race of the day, the Dundrod 150 Superbike event, on Thursday.

His tragic death💖 was confirmed by the race organisers, Dundrod and District Motorcycle Club, in a statement this evening.

The statement said: "It is with much sadness that the Dundrod and District Motorcycle Club confirm that Lee Vernon has passed away in hospital following an incident during the Dundrod 150 road races on Thursday.

"Lee, a 24 year old rider from Stoke-on-Tren🌺t, was taking part in the Superbike race when the tragic incident happened."

Noel Johnston, the Clerk of the Course at the Ulster Grand Pri♕x meeting, pai🐎d tribute to the young English rider.

"I am deeply saddened by the news of Lee's d𝄹eath. He firs𓆉t came to Dundrod as an 18-year-old novice and has been back every year since.

"He was a lo🧸vely lad and a creꦗdit to the sport and to his family. He will be sorely missed."

Lee's family have asked that their privacy be respected as they attempt to come to terms with their loss.

They have decided to go along with Lee's wishes for his organs to be donated, so that his memory can live on.

Lee's family would like to convey their thanks to everyone who has offered their support and to the people who have provided practical help at this difficult time.

The Dundrod Club also extended 'heartfelt sympathies' to Lee's family and circle of friend🃏s.

The Dundrod 150 meeting 🌸is part of the international Ulster Grand Prix road races, which take pla෴ce tomorrow.
