Bright was in race-winning contention all weekend after🍬 starting from fourth position on the grid and finishing in the same position in race one. When he scooted into third from the start of race two, those hopes looke🎃d brighter, but then ended abruptly on lap two.
"I was carrying too much speed into turn one and had to turn in, but clipped the tyres on th🌸e way past," he said, "It was that impact that broke the steering, not the hit that came afterwards. I couldn't avoid that because the steering was already busted.
"Our speed had been good all weekend and I reckon we were good for a podium. It's pretty dis🦂appointing, but at least we've got a few points from the first race."
Weel eventually finished 16th, having started the weekend in a disappointing 25th position on the grid. The first of two 100km races saw him drive cleanly and smoothly into 13th, from where he started the second race, quickly driving into sevenꦯth after several safety car interventions had left the field with one competitive lap remaining. Unfortunately it proved to be a lap too far for the second Team Brock entry.
"[Paul] Radisich pushed me wide on the turn at the exit to the back straight," Weel reported, "I asked him what happened and he said 💝he got hit by Rick Kelly.
"I lost a few spots and I'm not sure whether I got tagged again or whether I locked a brake, but I slid int♉o a wall and that was that. The car was okay to keep going but I'd lost a bཧit by then."
Despite his premature exit, Bright retained seventh place in the🎃 Championship, while We🦂el now lies in twelfth position.
