2025 Official Phillip Island WorldSBK Test - Day 1 as it happened

Recap Monday’s opening day of the 2025 Official Phillip Island WorldSBK test.

Ahead of next weꦓekend’s 2025 Phillip Island WorldSBK season opener, two days of official testing are being held at the challenging Au🥂stralian racetrack.

The track schedule for the test is as follows;

Monday (17th February)

09:10-11:00 – WorldSSP Free Practice 1

11:10-13:10 – WorldSBK Free Practice 1

13:40-15:30 – WorldSSP Free Practice 2

15:40-17:40 – WorldSBK Free Practice 2

Tuesday (18th February)

09:10-11:10 – WorldSBK Free Practice 1

11:20-13:10 – WorldSSP Free Practice 1

UPDATE: Jonathan Rea haไs been ruled out of the opening round of the 2025 WorldSBK season after his Monday morning accident at Phillip Island.

Rea has sustained "multiple fractures to the left foot".

Tomorrow's final day𝔉 of WorldSBK pre-season testing will see the Superbike riders on track fro🍃m 9:10-11:10am and then 1:40-3:40pm.

The session ends with Nicolo Bulega fastest from fellow Ducati rider Andrea Iannone, with Toprak Razgatlioglu making up for lost ꧑♉time with third.

Jonathan Rea did🔴n't return to action after this morning's heavy Turn 2 accident and we await an official update on his condition.

Int🔯o the final minute of Monday's testing and Ryan Vickers turns heads, again, by snatching 7th place!

Bulega then deli♐vers a clean sweep of four new fastest sectors to set a 1m 28.765s.

He's𓄧 now just a few tenths from his own officiaꦿl race lap record.

But Bulega is back out and sets new fastest sectors in splits♈ 2, 3🐻 and 4 to clock the first 1m 28s lap of the week.

The Ducati star is now 0.284s ahead of Iannone.

Into the final 20 minutes of the day and Andrea Iannone -﷽ a MotoGP podium finisher at Phillip Island with Ducati and Suzuki, then third on his World𒐪SBK debut last year - has closed Bulega's advantage down to just 0.131s.

Xavi Vierge moves into 7th and is now two places ahead of the t♛op Yamaha (Andrea Locatel♉li).

Alex Lowes joins Razgatlioglu in breaking up the Ducati pack at thꩲe front by 🍬taking over 5th, between Petrucci and Bautista.

Toprak is the only non-Ducati in the top five.

The weather at Phillip Island is a partly cloudy 18 degrees, but Saturday of the upcoming race weekend is forecast 🥂to see te♑mperatures rocket to 30 degrees.

Meanwhile, 2024 race winner Bulega sets four fastest sectors to deliver a 1m 29.132s.෴ That's🍸 the best lap of the day so far and puts him a big 0.790s clear of Ducati team-mate Alvaro Bautista.

There has been no official word from Rea or Yamaha about any injuries, but the six time champion was ta😼ken to the medical centre for checks after crashing at Turn 2 ﷽(the Southern Loop) late in Session 1.
