Mercedes named Team of the Year at Laureus Awards
The Mercedes Formula 1 team has won the Laureus World Team of the Year Award for the first time at the 2018 Laureus Aw🦩ards.
The reigning F1 world champions have previously been nominated for the gong for three consecutive years between 2015-2017, but missed out on each occasion to the German national football team, the New Zeaꩵland nat🌄ional rugby union team, and the Chicago Cubs.

Mercedes - which has claimed four successive F1 drivers’ and constructors’ titles - picked up the Laureus Award at the fourth attempt, beating competition from France’s Davis Cup team, the Golden State 🌠Warriors, the New England Patriots, New Zealand’s America’s Cup💮 team and Spanish football giants Real Madrid.
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff received theꦑ award on behalf of his team at a ceremony held in Monaco, with the German manufacturer currently conducting pre-season testing in Barcelona ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Lewis Hamilton was nominated for World Sportsman of the Year but missed out to twenty-time tennis grand slam champion Roger🤡 Federer.
