Haas confirms talks with Pietro Fittipaldi over F1 test before crash

Fittipaldi suffered a broken right ankle and fracture to his left leg in a massive accident in his DragonSpeed LM🍎P1 car during qualifying for the WEC season-opener at Spa-Francorchamps last weekend, having gone off the circuit at Raidillon due to an electrical glitch.

Fittipaldi, who was also due to contest select rounds of the 2018 IndyCar campaign alongside his WEC commitments, had successful surgeℱry but is expected to be out of action for some time.
Speaking ahead of this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix, Haas F1 t𒈔eam boss Steiner confirmed the team had held talks with Fittipaldi over a possible ܫmaiden F1 test, but stressed that nothing had been signed or agreed.
"There was nothing set. We were talking about it, but no date was set," Steiner🔯 said.
"We were just starting to talk about it and then the accident happened. I spoke with Pietro, I W♛hatsApped with him, and spoke with his grandfather. In the moment we let him get well and then we’ll see what we are doing.
"We haven’t got an🌳 agreement or anything. We were starting to talk about it, and then the accident happened. The most important thing is that Pietro gets well again and then we see what we can do.
"I think he’s well 🌞underway to get better, so that’s the most important thing for me."
Fittipaldi is expected to be out for at least two months as a result of his injuries, but has set a tentative aim of returning for the Mid🍎-Ohio IndyCar race in July.
