Formula 1 has announced all energy used a💝t next year’s Bahrain Grand Prix will be from sustainable resources as part of the sport’s plans to have net zero carbon emissions by 2030.

Earlier this year, F1🐷 announced it would be expanding its ‘#WeR💜aceAsOne’ initiative to three strands: Diversity and inclusion, community and sustainability.

As part of its sustainability branch, F1 hopes to have net zero carbon by 203🦩0.

Plans will see the construction of a solar panel site at the circuit, where it will “‘more th🧸an cover the energy requirements of the Formula 1 weekend, with excess to spare”.

Speaking of the announcement, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali said: “We are proud of t⛦he efforts by the Bahrain International Circuit to make the race more sustainable and their bigger plans for the coming years.

“This is another great example of the steps being taken by the country under its leadership to use technology and innovation to advance its sustainability plans. It perfectly aligns to our own str♈ategy to be Net Zero C🐽arbon as a sport by 2030 and to improve our sustainability on and off the track.”

Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa, chief executive of the Bahrain International Circuit added: “Today’s commitment is an important part of our broader sustainability aims as a circuit and supports F1’s own target to b❀e net carbon neutral by 2030.

“This initiative will not only make our F1 race a cleaner and greene🐲r event in the future, but will encourage other large-scale events to make the move🌊 to sustainable energy, and inspire sports fans to embrace change.”
