Dutch GP: Max Verstappen to face F1 stewards over alleged FP2 red flag overtake

Max Verstappen has been summoned to the Formula 1 stewards over an alleged overtake under a red flag during second practice for the Dutch Grand Prix.

The Red Bull driver had just started a flying lap when a stoppage for championship rival Lewis Hamilto🦩n caused the red flags to be waved during the early stages of FP2 on Friday at Zandvoort.

Verstappen appeared to💙 overtake Lance Stroll between Turns 10 and 11 after the red flag had come out while he was on a push lap and the Aston Martin driver was on a slow lap.

On Saturday morning ahead of final practice, the stewards requested Verstappen and a team representative to report to them at 1045 l𒈔ocal time regarding the incident.

"Alleged breach of Appendix L Ch IV Art 1, Appendix H 2.5.4.1.b of the FIA International Sporting Code an🗹d Article 50.2 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations, allegᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚed overtaking car 18 whilst red flags were shown at 15:10 between turns 10 and 11.”

If found guilty, Verstappen could be hit wit🍌h a grid penalty at his home raceꦉ.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner downplayed any concern over the 𝔍incident f༺ollowing second practice on Friday.

“Max, as soᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚon as there🌱 was a red flag, he backed right out of it,” Horner told Sky Sports.

“I can only think heꩵ was on a slow lap any🐷way. I was watching the data and he was completely out of it as soon as he got the message about the red flag.”
