Maverick Vinales says his goal for the remainder of the 2019 MotoGP world ꦉchampionship is to remaꦚin the top Yamaha rider in the standings as he continues to push himself both on and off track.

The Spanisꦿh rider moved ahead of team-mate Valentino Rossi thanks to his rostrum at Silverstone last time out and is now two points in front of the 40-year-old in the riders’ standings ahead oꦬf the San Marino round at Misano.

After a productive two-day teℱst at Misano last month, where Vinales ended the final day in sixth place on the timesheet, he was content with the work completed having b🌠alanced his track time between testing 2020 parts and preparations for this weekend.

Vinales remains hopeful that work pays off at Misano both in the short-term as well as looking towards next season. Both Vinales and Rossi tried out a new ꦉexhaust, carbon fibre swingarm an𒆙d aerodynamics on the prototype M1 which could be seen on track this weekend.

“We’ve had a two-week break again, but we have never stopped working during that ti💦me. We’ve been preparing in order to come to Misano in a good physical and mental shape,” Vinales said.

“We are very happy with the positive results of the last races and we have to remain focused to finish the season in a good po𓆏sition in the general classification.

“Being the first Yamaha is my goal, as always. The test in Misa🤪no 🔯was useful because we tried many things, not only for next year but also for this current season.

“The San Marino GP is a kind of home GP for Yamaha and 🎀we will have many fans supporting us here, so I can’t wait to get back aboard my M1 and fight for the podi💃um, spurred on by the amazing atmosphere.”

Misano hasn’t represented a happy hunting ground for Vinales during his MotoGP career so far having failed to reach the podium in four attempts, with fourth place in 2017 marking his best result after starting f🥂rom pole position for Yamaha that year.
